Many people suffer from symptoms resulting from an imbalanced bite – a condition called temporomandibular disorder (TMD). TMD affects patients in many ways is an unpleasant and often painful problem.
While many cases of a misaligned bite are harmless and never produce symptoms, others with TMD are stuck with pain that interrupts their entire life. And many cases of TMD fall somewhere in between – it just depends on the severity of your misalignment.
Symptoms can range from headaches (sinus-type headaches to unbearable migraines) to locking of the jaw, tooth loss, earaches, vision problems, and pain in the jaw, head, neck and shoulders. A bad bite can affect not just your tooth and gums, but your entire body!
