How time consuming is the crown procedure?
A beautiful and natural-looking smile can be achieved at our New Jersey cosmetic dentistry center in only two visits! South Jersey Dentist, Dr. Douglas will reduce your enamel and take an impression during the “fitting” visit, and then place your permanent tooth crown during your second visit. Both visits should take about an hour or less.
Is getting a crown a painful process?
Cosmetic Dentist, Dr. Douglas uses local anesthesia to keep you comfortable during both visits, and you can use over-the-counter pain medication for any discomfort following. You will experience some sensitivity and should avoid very hot or very cold beverages for a few days after the visits. If you experience severe pain, or if your temporary crown comes loose, please call Beautiful Smile, LLC immediately for an adjustment.
How long will my porcelain crown last?
A well cared for crown can last 10 – 15 years or longer! It is important to brush and floss crowns like you do natural teeth and keep up with your dental visits for optimum oral health and a continued natural appearance. You can treat your crown like a natural tooth, but Dr. Douglas will advise against biting unusually hard surfaces to prevent breakage.
Am I a good candidate for a porcelain crown?
You may be a good candidate for a teeth crown if you have a high level of tooth damage due to decay, injury, or wear. Patients with smaller levels of damage may be better suited to less invasive treatments like Porcelain Veneers, White fillings or Tooth Whitening.
